Olympic Fundraiser

Despite yesterday’s wind and rain, a number of spirited staff and students contributed a mile on the front field for the ‘run around the world’ charity fundraiser.

The event took place on the 24 April with staff and students dressed up in fancy dress or sporting the Olympic colours. Each participant paid a nominal fee of £1 and had the option of running, jogging or walking around the football pitch five times (equated to 1 mile).

Mark Vinall, Principal of Palmer’s College said: “Palmer's College is delighted to support this pre-Olympic charity fund raising event in aid of WellChild."

The College was supporting the fundraiser as a member of the Sixth Form Colleges Forum. All 93 sixth form colleges in the UK are taking part and each contributing 300 miles which equates to the circumnavigation of the world (27,900).

The fundraiser aims to collectively raise £27,900 with each College hoping to raise £300 for WellChild. Palmer’s College has so far raised just under £200 with further donations still being collected.
